Database Configuration

When you create a new MemberStorm database the following information is recorded by our server:

Database name
A short name for the database. This must consist of any combination of the characters "a" to "z", "0" to "9", plus the characters "_", "-" or ".". It must begin with a letter and be at least five characters in length. Spaces are not allowed so use "_" if you think you need some space e.g. angioma_alliance_uk
Database short description
A one line, plain text, description of what the database is for.
Database long description
A full description of what the database is for. You can use a limited set of HTML tags in your description.
Admin email address
The email address to which all admin email is sent. This can be a list of email addresses, separated by commas, if required.
From email address
Where emails sent by MemberStorm to your members appears to be from. If you've got your own web site, e.g. www.angioma.org.uk this would typically be something like admin@angioma.org.uk
To email address
Where emails sent by MemberStorm to your members appears to be to e.g. something like news@angioma.org.uk
Turn attachments into hyperlinks (Y/N)
If you send an email to your members which includes an attachment you can make yourself very unpopular if they have a slow Internet connection. Setting this to "Y" gets around this by stripping off the attachments and replacing each one by a message appended to the outgoing email which includes a hyperlink to the attachment which the member can click on to view the attachment.
Convert HTML to plain text (Y/N)
When you send an email to your members you may want to send it as HTML or as plain text. There are advantages and disadvantages to both methods which are discussed in more detail here. If you choose to send plain text emails then setting this flag ensures that if you send your mail to MailStorm in HTML format the mail that goes out to your members is plain text.
HTML signature
Plain text signature
The text which is automatically added to the bottom of each email to your members. If you send your emails in multipart-alternate format then MemberStorm will append the correct signature to each part.

Note that some of these settings can be overriden by settings for individual membersets.
